On airports role in the
community
I write in response to the letter
written by Wood-Ridge Borough Councilman Richard Carbonaro, who admonished your readers
the "Bergen does not need Teterboro Airport" (Your Views, March 16).
As a member of a business organization that employees over 300 men and women at Teterboro
Airport (several of who are Wood-Ridge residents), I respectfully disagree with
Carbonaro's ill-considered conclusion. In fact, I can assure Carbonaro that the
hundreds of families who rely on Teterboro Airport for their livelihood are not
"pampered millionaires" but hard-working men an women who take pride in their
work and who add a great value to the Bergen County communities in which they reside.
I encourage Carbonaro to work with the airport operator and its tenants to increase the
awareness of each other's problems and to work as a team to resolve airport-related issues
in the practical and effective manner.
