The NJ Air Services Development Office (ASDO) sponsored a Networking Seminar at the
Holiday Inn in Hasbrouck Heights, on Friday morning, May 2, 2003. The program was
presented by Kevin Shulman, of Shulman, Turrisi and Associates, who specialize in sales
This interactive seminar titled "Networking = Business Success", was designed to
help business owners develop effective sales opportunities through networking.
Mr. Shulman asked, "What hat are you wearing -- networking hat or sales
hat?" He emphasized that prospecting and networking were not the
same thing. Networking provides opportunities to meet people; opportunities to make
Mr. Shulman offered tips on places to network, who to network with, how to start a
conversation and ways to measure networking success.
In his presentation he suggested practical ways to improve "your 30 second
commercial" by emphasizing how you solve problems and provide solutions.
NJ ASDO hosted members of the Meadowlands Chamber of
Commerce, The Teterboro Business League, Teterboro Airport tenants, aviation colleagues and area
