Opens Northern New Jersey Metro P & DC
Teterboro, NJ – The United
States Postal Service unveiled the newest Processing and Distribution Center in Northern
New Jersey today. The grand opening ceremony took place @ 10:30a.m. inside the new
Teterboro Plant. Northern New Jersey’s newest and most state of the art processing
and distribution center will accommodate over 2.1 million customers across four counties.
The festive ceremony took place
at 200 Industrial Avenue in Teterboro, New Jersey directly across the street from the
Teterboro Airport. The event was a celebration of ten years of planning to upgrade and
centralize Northern New Jersey’s mail processing into one facility. Speakers included
the New Jersey State Senator Honorable Joseph Coniglio, Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck,
Mayor of Teterboro John P. Watt, USPS Area Vice President Dave Solomon, Senior Plant
Manager Louis Rizzolo, and Northern New Jersey Metro P & DC Plant Manager Frank
Bongiovanni.
Postal officials hosted the
event, and thanked local community leaders, and residents for their support and patience.
The new facility will employ 900 plus employees, process 1.9 billion pieces of mail
annually, and utilize 56 pieces of processing equipment. The Northern New Jersey Metro
Processing & Distribution Center is the sixth largest facility in the New York Metro
Area. The new facility will consolidate the operations formerly performed at the Paterson
and Hackensack Plants.
Postmaster Frank Bongiovanni
stated, "We trust that the proud history of both the Hackensack and Paterson Plants
will be a strong foundation for the future success of the Northern New Jersey Metro P
& DC, one team…one dream."
The highlight of the day was the
participation of all the speakers and Postal Officials in the actual ribbon cutting and
opening of Northern New Jersey’s newest mail facility. [Facility Overview]

The program began with the presentation of Colors by Postal Police Color Guard,
Newark, NJ,
followed by the singing of the National Anthem by Sylvia Smith, Northern NJ Metro P &
D Center.
